If your site took a hit after the introduction of Google Penguin, what do you need to do to recover?
- A. Rebuild your entire website
- B. Build links to increase trust and authority
- C. Ignore it; it’s not your fault Google changed the algorithm
(See answer below)
Google’s latest algorithm update, known as Google Penguin, was first announced way back in April 2012, yet it is still making waves in the SEO community. Google’s main goal with Penguin was to decrease the rankings of websites in violation of Google’s Webmaster Guidelines. These violations are labeled “black-hat” SEO techniques, indicating that their high search ranks are artificial.
In fact, most of Google’s recent algorithm releases have strongly encouraged achieving an increase in page rank through commonly accepted SEO practices. Not only will these practices increase the quality of search results that website queries return to users, but Google believes they will lead to higher quality websites overall.
If your website took a ranking hit when Penguin rolled out, have no fear. You can recover your rankings by working to build your website’s links. By having high quality links, your website will gain trust from your viewers and be seen as an authority on the particular focus area(s) of your target industry.
